Rongai route is one of the rarely used routes to climb the Kilimanjaro. This is an ideal route for a peaceful climb without many people. This side of the mountain is on the leeward side, you can notice that by seeing the montane forest end at about 2600 meters while on the other routes the montane forest ends at 3000 meters.

You ascend through this route and descend through Marangu route, you will be able to experiences two routes in the same climb. The rongai route is very near to the Kenyan border to the North. In this route it is where you will have a higher chance to view wildlife on the first day( black and white colobus monkeys, Blue Sykes Monkey, Antelopes and a variety of birdlife)
